II-E-1. MARGARET ADALINE SIBERT (1867 – 1957), daughter of George Moore Sibert3 (George2, John David1)

Margaret Adeline Sibert was the daughter of George M. Sibert and Margaret Lyon. [1][2] She was probably born on 4 May 1867 in Abbeville, South Carolina. [1] She died of heart disease on 20 November 1957, aged 90. [2][3] She married Edgar Lee Ralls on 28 March 1888. [1] Edgar was the son on John P. and Agnes (Hamilton) Ralls. [2] He was born on 22 June 1864 in Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama. [1][2][3] He died from complications of an operation for a strangulated hernia on 15 October 1920, aged 55, in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. [1][2][3][4] Addie and Edgar are buried in the Mission Burial Park South in San Antonio. [3]

Beeson says that Addie was born on 4 May 1867. [1] According to her death certificate—the informant was her daughter Marion Ralls Wilson—Addie was born on 4 May 1877. This is probably an error, possibly a recording error. Her gravestone says she was born in 1867. [3] The 1900 census says she was born in May 1868. [5]

According to the 1940 census, Addie attended school through the sixth grade. [5]

According to the census, on 1 June 1900, Edgar, born in June 1864 in Alabama, and Addie S., born in May 1868 in South Carolina, lived in Gadsden with their children Edgar L., born in February 1890 in Tennessee; John P., born in May 1892 in Alabama; Marion A., born in December 1895 in South Carolina; and Margaret A., born in February 1899 in Alabama. They had been married for 12 years, and had had four children. Addie's sister Sarah L. Sibert also lived with them. Edgar was a traveling salesman. [5]

On 19 April 1910, Edgar L., aged 43, and Addie S., aged 38, lived in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas with their children Edgar L., Jr., aged 20; John P., Jr., aged 17; Marion A., aged 12; and Margaret A., aged ten. Edgar was a commercial salesman of cotton goods; Edgar L., Jr. and John P. were merchants of "adv. novelties." [5]

On 26 January 1920, Edgar Lee, aged 56, and Addie S., aged 49, lived in San Antonio with their son Edgar Lee, Jr., aged 28; their daughter Margaret McClintick, aged 19; and their grandson Charles R. McClintick, aged one and a half and born in Texas. Edgar [Sr.] was a druggist; Edgar, Jr. was an assistant manager and salesman. [5]

At the time of his death, Edgar had lived in San Antonio for two years. His death certificate—the informant was his wife—describes him as a traveling salesman and druggist. [2] According to an obituary, Edgar grew up in Gadsden. He was the son of John P. Ralls, a member of the Congress of the Confederate States. [4]

On 29 April 1930, Addie, aged 61 and widowed, lived with her son-in-law Harry J. Geiss and his family in San Antonio. On, 2 April 1940, Attie[!], aged 70 and widowed, lived with her daughter Margaret Geiss and her sons in San Antonio. On 18 April 1950, Addie, aged 79 and widowed, lived in San Antonio with her son Edgar and her daughter Marion. [5]

According to her obituary, Addie was a Sunday School teacher in San Antonio. She was survived by her sons Edgar Lee Ralls, Jr. of San Antonio and J.P. Ralls of Pasadena, California; her daughters Mrs. Marion Ralls Wilson of San Antonio and Mrs. H.J. Geiss of Washington, D.C.; six grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. [6]

Children of Edgar Lee Ralls and Margaret Adeline Sibert:

II-E-1-a. Edger Lee Ralls was born on 19 February 1890 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. [1][2][3][7][8][9] He died on 10 February 1974, aged 83, in San Antonio. [2][3] He is buried in the Mission Burial Park South in San Antonio. [3] He married Esther Allsup after 20 May 1917. [1] Esther, the daughter of William T. and Ethel Allsup, was born about 1900. They probably divorced between 1926 and 29 April 1930.

According to the 1940 census, Edgar graduated from high school. [5]

Edgar must have has some disability.

According to his 20 May 1917 World War I draft registration card, Edgar lived in Dallas. His usual occupation was "druggist clerk," but he was unemployed. He claimed an exemption for "sickness." [8]

According to his daughter's birth certificate, Edgar's wife's name was Esther Allsup, and Virginia was her first child. At the time—6 August 1923—Edgar was the chief clerk at a tile [?] company. [10]

In 1926, Edgar and Esther lived in San Antonio. [11]

According to the census, on 29 April 1930, Edgar lived with his brother-in-law Harry J. Geiss and his family. He is described as a widower and unemployed. On 2 April, Edgar, aged 50, divorced, and unable to work, lived with his sister Margaret in San Antonio. On 18 April 1950, Edgar, aged 49 and divorced, lived with his mother in San Antonio. He was unable to work. [5]

According to his death certificate, Edgar was the son of Edgar Lee Ralls and Adeline Sibert. He was the district manager for a rubber company. The informant was his sister Marion. [2]

Children of Edgar Lee Ralls and Esther Allsup:

i. Virginia Lee Ralls was born on 6 August 1923 in San Antonio. [3][10] She died on 21 January 2017. [3] She married Floyd Vernon Price. [3] Floyd was the son of E.F. and Amber Price. [13] He was born on 25 November 1920 in San Antonio. [3][13] He died on 8 September 1999 in Kerrville, Texas. [3][13] Virginia and Floyd are buried in the Sunset Memorial Park in San Antonio. [3]

According to his obituary, Floyd graduated from Southwest Texas State University. He had a law degree from St. Mary's. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a successful businessman. He was survived by, among others, his wife Virginia Lee Ralls Price. [13]

According to the census, on 12 April 1930, Esther Ralls, aged 30 and divorced, and Virginia Ralls, aged six and born in Texas, lived with Esther's parents William T. and Ethel Allsup in San Antonio. On 18 April 1940, Virginia, aged 16, lived with her mother Esther Hull and Esther's husband Dr. Austin Hull, M.D., in San Antonio. [5]

Children of Floyd Vernon Price and Virginia Lee Ralls:

II-E-1-b. John Perkins Ralls was born on 16 May 1892 in Bridgeport, Alabama. [1][3][9][16][17] He died on 18 February 1981 in Orange County, California. [3][16][17] He married Dorothy Ann Warner about 1916. [1] Dorothy Ann, the daughter of Daniel E. and Lucille (Street) Warner was born on 4 July 1901 in Illinois. [16] She died on 11 July 1984 in Orange County, California. [3][16] John and Dorothy Ann are buried in the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Riverside County, California. [3]

According to his California death record, John's mother's maiden name was Sibert. According to her California death record, Dorothy's mother's maiden name was Street. [16]

According to the 1940 census, John completed two years of college and Dorothy finished high school. [5]

John served in World War I. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on 9 May 1917 and was discharged on 6 December 1918. [17]

According to the census, in 1920, John P., aged 27 and born in Alabama, and Dorothy Ann, aged 19 and born in Illinois, lived with Dorothy's parents, Daniel E. and Lucille Warner, in Los Angeles. John was 24 years old when he married. He was a druggist. On 12 April 1930, John P., aged 36 and Dorothy A., aged 29, lived in Los Angeles with their sons Jack, aged ten and born in California, and Robert, aged seven and born in Colorado. John was a chemist in the wholesale food products industry. He was a veteran of World War I. On 26 April 1940, John P., aged 47, and Dorothy, aged 39, lived in Los Angeles with their sons Jack W., aged 20, Robert P., aged 17, and Daniel L., aged eight and born in California. John was a food chemist. [5]

According to his 27 April 1942 World War II draft registration card, John was born in Bridgeport, Alabama. He lived in Los Angeles and was self employed in the food manufacturing industry. His contact was Dorothy Ralls. [9]

Children of John Perkins Ralls and Dorothy Ann Warner:

i. Jack Warner Ralls was born on 1 February 1920 in Los Angeles. [16][18] He died on 3 September 1997 in Contra Costa County, California. [16] He married Nancy Jane Lindberg on 27 or 30 December 1946 at St. David's Episcopal Church in North Hollywood. [19][20]

According to his 1 July 1941 World War II draft registration card, Jack was a student. He was also employed by the California Fruit Products Company of Los Angeles. His contact was Mr. J.P. Ralls. [18]

According to their wedding announcement, Jack was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ralls; Nancy Jane was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin E. Lindberg. Both Jack and Nancy were graduates of U.C.L.A. Jack had served overseas in World War II. Lieutenant Robert Ralls was the best man; Annyce Ralls was matron of honor. [20]

Jack received a Ph.D. in chemistry from Northwestern in 1949. [21]

ii. Doctor Robert Patterson Ralls was born on 18 June 1922 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. [7][18] He died on 14 May 2006. [7] He married Annyce Patterson on 22 or 24 October 1944 at the North Hollywood Baptist Church in Los Angeles. [19][22] Annyce, the daughter of Paul Rush and Georgia (Addis) Patterson, was born on 29 May 1924 and died on 1 January 2016 in Mission Viejo, California. [23]

According to a death notice, Robert P. Ralls, M.D., of Monarch Beach, California died on 16[!] May 2006. He was survived by his wife Pat, five children, 15 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and his brother Daniel. [24]

According to his 30 January 1942 World War II draft registration card, Robert was a student at U.C.L.A. His contact was Mr. J.P. Ralls. [18]

According to their wedding announcement, PFC Robert Patterson Ralls was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Perkins Ralls. He was a former student at U.C.L.A. and was attending the School of Medicine at S.C. in the army specialized training program. Annyce graduated from U.C.L.A. [22]

Robert was a medical examiner in California on 17 February 1947. [25]

iii. Daniel Lee Ralls was born on 21 August 1931 in California. [26] He died on 4 August 2013 and is buried in the Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point, Oregon. [26] He married [possibly living] on 7 September 1954 in Cook County, Illinois. [27]

Daniel was a captain in the U.S. Air Force. [26]

II-E-1-c. Marion Annette Ralls was born on 10 December 1896 in Troy, Greenwood County, South Carolina. [1][3][28] She died on 15 August 1996. [3] She is buried in the Mission Burial Park South. [3] She married Rodgers Stadden Wilson on 8 December 1917 in El Paso County, Texas. [1][29] Rodgers was the son of Claude and Mary (Stadden) Wilson. [30] He was born on 12 June 1896. [3][30] He died on 11 May 1983. [3] He is buried in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. [3] Rodgers and Marion divorced between 7 April 1930 and 2 April 1940. Rodgers married second Gladys (Sudsberry) Stringfellow on 9 October 1948 in Indiana. [3][30]

According to her 22 September 1942 delayed South Carolina birth certificate, Marion Annette Ralls was born on 10 December 1896 in Troy. She was the daughter or Edgar Lee Ralls, born in Gadsden and deceased, and Margaret Adaline Sibert of San Antonio, born in Troy, Abbeville County, South Carolina. [28]

According to the 1940 census, Marion completed two years of college. [5]

According to his 5 June 1918 World War I draft registration card, Rodgers's nearest relative was [his father] Claude Wilson. [8]

According to the census, on 12 January 1920, Rodgers, aged 27 and born in Texas, and Marion, aged 23 and born in South Carolina, lived in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. They were roomers and Rodgers was a clerk for a cotton company. On 7 April 1930, Rodgers, aged 33, and Marian, aged 32, lived in Tyler, Smith County, Texas. Rodgers was a manager in the "stocks & banks" industry. [5]

On 2 April 1940 Marion Wilson, aged 39 and divorced, lived with her sister Margaret in San Antonio. She was a secretary for an amusement company. On 18 April 1950, Marion Wilson, aged 46 and separated[!] from her husband, lived with her mother in San Antonio. She worked as a secretary for an amusement company. [5]

II-E-1-d. Margaret Agnes Ralls was born on 28 February 1899 in Gadsden. [1][3] She died on 1 May 1999. [3] She married first Charles Ralph McClintick on 17 September 1917 in El Paso County, Texas. [1][29] Charles, the son of George and Margaret Julia McClintick, was born on 22 January 1898 in St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri. [31] He died on 5 September 1976. [3] He and Margaret probably divorced by 1920. He married second Maude Estella Schuerman on 25 May 1921 in St. Louis. [32] Margaret married second Harry J. Geiss on 1 March 1924 in San Antonio. [1][33] Harry was born on 23 February 1896 in Howland, Indiana. [3][10] He died on 2 November 1961. Harry and Margaret divorced by 1940. Margaret married third, as his second wife, Harry Sylvester Kearby about 7 December 1967 in San Antonio. [3][34] Harry, the son of William and Nora (McFarland) Kearby was born on 1 January 1900 in Iowa. [2][3] He died on 21 April 1979 in San Antonio. [3][2] He married first Ernestine Louise Blatz. [3] Margaret and her second two husbands are buried in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. [3] Charles is buried in the Sunset Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Affton, St. Louis County, Missouri. [3]

According to the 1940 census, Margaret graduated from high school. [5]

Harry J. Geiss served in World War I. [3] Harry Kearby served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War I. [3]

The 1930 census says that Margaret was 16 at her first marriage [to Charles McClintick]. Harry Geiss was born about 1896 and was 27 at his first marriage [presumably to Margaret]. [5]

According to the census, on 26 January 1920, Margaret McClintick, aged 19, lived with her parents and her one-and-a-half-year-old son Charles R. McClintick, born in Texas, in San Antonio. She was described as married. On 29 April 1930, Harry J. Geiss, aged 33 and born in Indiana, and Margaret, aged 29, lived in San Antonio with Margaret's son Chas. R. McClintick, aged 11, and [their son] Harry J. Geiss, aged five and born in Texas. Margaret's mother and her brother Edgar lived with them. Harry was a rate clerk for a railway. On 2 April 1940, Margaret, aged 36 and divorced, lived in San Antonio with her sons Harry Geiss, aged 15, and Charles McClintick, aged 21. Her mother, brother Edgar, and sister Marion also lived with her. She was a buyer for a department store. [5]

Harry Sylvester Kearby's death certificate says he was an accountant for a heavy machine company. The informant was Margaret R. Kearby. [2]

Children of Charles R. McClintick and Margaret Agnes Ralls:

i. Lieutenant Colonel Charles Ralls McClintick was born on 21 July 1918 in El Paso, Texas. [3][7][10][35] He died on 18 July 2004. [3] He is buried in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. [3] He married Constance Holcombe Higson on 3 January 1942 in Harris County, Texas. [33][36] Constance, the daughter of Bob and Virginia Higson, was born on 30 September 1924 in Philadelphia and died on 27 December 2008 in San Antonio. [36]

Charles's social security records say he the son of Charles R. and Margaret A. (Ralls) McClintick. [7] His birth certificate says he is the son of Charles Ralph McClintick, born in St. Louis, and Margaret Agnes Ralls, born in Gadsden. [10]

Charles joined the U.S. Air Force at the start of World War II. After the war, he went to optometry college. He was recalled to duty in the Korean War. After that war, he and Constance moved to Atlanta and Charles established Pearle Vision Centers throughout Georgia. Ten years later Charles and Constance moved to Phoenix, where Charles was a co-founder and partner of Vista Optical. Charles and Constance later moved back to San Antonio, where Charles joined Texas State Optical. [36]

Children of Harry J. Geiss and Margaret Agnes Ralls:

i. Harry Jacob Geiss was born on 8 October 1924 in San Antonio. [3][10] He died on 13 February 1957. [3] He is buried in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. [3] He married Barbara Ann Spinks in November 1947 in New Orleans. [3][39] Barbara Ann was the daughter of James and Nora Spinx. [40] She was born on 20 April 1927. [3][41] She died on 23 July 2006 in Gulfport, Louisiana. [3][40] She is buried in the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Harrison County, Mississippi. [3]

Harry's birth certificate says he is the son of Harry J. Geiss, Sr., born in Howland, Indiana, and Margaret Ralls, born in Gadsden, Alabama. [10]

Barbara Ann was admitted to the World War II Cadet Nursing Corp on 9 April 1945. She graduated on 8 April 1948. [41] According to her obituary, she was a native of Youngstown, Ohio and a registered nurse. [40]
